the BAD-files (vol. 1)
After so many months of waiting, it's finally here. The first of eight discs with BAD mixes,
remixes, rare versions and unreleased songs. The idea of such a compiliation was first launched
by El-Buc, but he apparently abandoned the idea and the BAD possé on the web. Wonder what
happened to him? Hope he's ok!
Back to the disc. 13 tracks of pure delightful BAD sound. Finally something "new" from the BAD
camp. It's just that this cd isn't from the BAD camp, it's from the fans. Although the artwork
for the sleeve and the look of the cd itself could fool anyone to believe that this is an
original BAD release, like a follow up to "The Lost Treasures of BAD I & II". The layout is
terrific, it's only when you start reading the credits that you understand that this is not an
official release. It looks grrrrrrreat!
After checking out the the sleeve, and establishing the fact that it's not an official release,
you slip the cd into you stereo and expect to hear some bogey sound proving that this is just
another bootleg disc with poor sound. Hate to tell you, but if that's what you're thinking
you'll be fooled again. This doesn't sound like a bootleg at all, and certainly not something
that some regular fan put together. The sound is excellent, it just couldn't get better!
The tracklist is the only thing that I would've done different if it was up to me, well maybe.
Instead of including songs from almost all of the albums, I'd prefer a more chronological
tracklist, but that really doesn't matter. When the songs are as great as they are, and the
beauty of the different versions, mixes, remixes and rarieties, who cares? By the way, the
inclusion of the unreleased track "King of the Ring" is just a stroke of genious, now we
all GOT to have this disc!
All I can say really, is that every BAD fan with some selfrespect left has got to get hold of
this compilation.
I can hardly wait for the next seven discs.
